Why an island wedding deserves a film
Island weddings are made of small, fleeting moments: the boat ride over, the church bells in the village, the meltemi catching your veil, your families meeting for the first time across an ocean. Photos freeze those moments. A film brings back the sound, the motion and the feeling.
I take a hands-on approach, from scouting locations in the morning to filming the last song of the night. During your ceremony, I stay close so every vow is captured, and afterward I craft a cinematic film with music and titles that tells your story, not a template. I often work with my brother, wedding photographer George Liopetas, so your photos and film feel like one story. If you’d like both, we offer a combined film and photography package with George. Just mention it when you get in touch.
Paros: relaxed, chic and perfect for families from abroad
Paros has quickly become one of the most loved wedding destinations in the Cyclades. It has the whitewashed beauty of the Cyclades with a slower, more laid-back rhythm, which makes it ideal for couples who want guests to feel like they’re on a real vacation.
- Getting there: Paros is reachable by ferry from Athens’s ports or a short domestic flight from Athens, so it works well for guests flying in from the US.
- Portrait backdrops: the fishing harbor of Naoussa, the old town of Parikia and the mountain village of Lefkes make beautiful settings for portraits.
- Best light: Parikia faces west, so its waterfront sunsets are spectacular. Plan your ceremony about an hour before sunset and save time for a stroll by the harbor, just like Stephanie & Dimitris did.
Greek island wedding venues I know well
Private villas on Paros
Paros weddings usually take place in private villas, which makes for intimate celebrations where your guests feel at home. Watch Stephanie & Dimitris’s Paros film.
The Old Harbor of Spetses
Constance & Adrien exchanged vows at the iconic lighthouse by the Old Harbor of Spetses, then took their guests by sea to a waterfront reception and arrived aboard a traditional boat.
El Sol Hotel, Kythira
Amalia & Chase celebrated at El Sol Hotel after a traditional Greek ceremony with wedding crowns and olive branches, dancing under the stars with loved ones who had flown in from New York.
A seaside chapel on Kasos
Lauren & Anthony married at a small seaside church just steps from the beach on Kasos, with the sunset behind them, after a pre-wedding escape by boat to a nearby island and a carefree beach party.
Art Villas Greece, Crete
Omer & Ron celebrated over two days at Art Villas Greece, from an old-school car and powerful motorcycles on day one to heartfelt vows and a wild sunset party.
Other islands and when to go
- Spetses is an easy trip from Athens, with an old harbor, a lighthouse and traditional boats. It’s ideal for elegant weddings with a sea journey built in.
- Kasos is one of Greece’s most unspoiled islands, with raw landscapes, deep blues and a rare sense of calm, for couples who want a wedding far from the crowds.
- Crete suits couples who want more than one day to celebrate, from day-one adventures to a sunset party.
- Kythira is ideal for Greeks abroad returning to their roots and for couples who want a traditional Greek wedding, away from the crowds.
- Mykonos is all glamour and energy. See my dedicated Mykonos wedding videographer page for venues and films.
- Season: most island weddings happen from May to October. Late May, June and September usually bring warm evenings and softer crowds. July and August are peak season, with strong meltemi winds in the Cyclades, so we plan sound, florals and timing around the wind.
Symbolic weddings and vow renewals in Greece
Many of my couples marry legally at home, in New York, Paris or anywhere else, and then celebrate in Greece with a symbolic ceremony. You skip the paperwork and keep all the emotion: your vows, your families and an island at sunset. On film, it looks and feels every bit as meaningful.
I also love filming vow renewals, whether it’s your 10th anniversary or your 40th, with your kids, or with the friends who were there the first time. An island like Paros is a beautiful place to say “I do” again. Whatever the size of your celebration, tell me about your plans and I’ll tailor the coverage to fit.

Dreaming of Paros?
Popular summer dates on Paros book early, so it pays to ask now.
