Why couples choose the Athens Riviera, and why it deserves a film
The Riviera stretches south from the city along the coast through Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and on toward Cape Sounion. It’s where black-tie elegance meets barefoot sea air, and where big, multicultural celebrations feel right at home. My Athens wedding film for Heleni & Antonis was featured on Style Me Pretty.
That mix is exactly what I love to film. I don’t just record the day in order. I build a story around you: the nerves before the first look, the moment your grandmother wipes away a tear, the speech everyone will quote for years, and the dance floor at midnight. The result is a cinematic film with music and titles that feels like your wedding, not anyone else’s.
I take a hands-on approach from the first call to the last song. I often work alongside my brother, wedding photographer George Liopetas, so your photos and film are planned together and feel like one story. If you’d like both, we offer a combined film and photography package with George. Just mention it when you get in touch.
Athens Riviera wedding venues I know well
Island Art and Taste
Most of the Athens Riviera weddings I film take place at Island Art and Taste, a seaside venue with four separate venue spaces inside, including the Residence and the Gallery. Because I’ve filmed there so often, I know the venue well and can plan your film around it. Watch Cristina & Leben, Marlen & David, Manhar & Vaishali, Vicky & Lenny, a New York couple whose Greek Orthodox ceremony took place with the sea behind them, and Maria & Bryan, who held their reception here after a church wedding in Athens.
Four Seasons Astir Palace
A five-star resort on the Vouliagmeni peninsula, made for black-tie celebrations by the sea. Kelly & Ergkys married here with an outdoor ceremony, a jazz band under the stars and fireworks during the cake cutting.
Golf Prive and Glyfada
Glyfada sits on the coast just south of the city. Heleni & Antonis said their vows at a church in Glyfada at sunset, then celebrated with more than 300 guests at Golf Prive.
A church wedding in Athens, then a party by the sea
Many couples with Greek roots marry in a Greek Orthodox church in Athens and then celebrate on the coast. Maria & Bryan traveled from New York for exactly that: tradition during the day, then a seaside reception at Island Art and Taste as the sun went down.
Beyond the coast: Pyrgos Petreza and Pyrgos Melissourgou
For a multi-day celebration, you can combine the Riviera with other venues. Manhar & Vaishali’s two-day Indian wedding moved between Island Art and Taste and the historic tower estates Pyrgos Melissourgou and Pyrgos Petreza, both in Athens, though not on the Riviera.
Light, season and logistics
A few tips I share with couples planning an Athens wedding from abroad:
- Season: the Riviera has one of the longest wedding seasons in Greece, roughly May through October. June and September are favorites for warm evenings without peak-summer heat.
- West-facing sunsets: much of the coast faces west and southwest, so the sun sets over the water. A ceremony about an hour before sunset gives you golden light on your vows and a glowing sky for portraits.
- Easy logistics: guests land at Athens International Airport and can be at the beach the same afternoon, which makes welcome dinners and multi-day celebrations simple to plan.
- City extras: many couples add an Acropolis-view portrait session or a day-after shoot in Athens. Early morning is calmest and gives the softest light.
Films from Athens and the Athens Riviera
Every Athens and Riviera wedding film in my portfolio, starting with the weddings at Island Art and Taste:
Cristina & Leben: a blend of cultures at Island Art and Taste
Venue: Island Art and Taste
Romanian music and dances met the rhythms and colors of African traditions at Island Art and Taste. The couple never stopped smiling, and neither did their guests. The film placed 2nd for Best Highlights Film at the Wevsy Greece Awards 2024.

Marlen & David: a timeless seaside celebration
Venue: Island Art and Taste
Gentle sea breeze, golden Mediterranean light, intimate vows and a joyful celebration with loved ones at Island Art and Taste.

Manhar & Vaishali: a two-day Indian wedding in Athens
Venue: Island Art and Taste (Athens Riviera), plus Pyrgos Melissourgou and Pyrgos Petreza (Athens)
Two days across three venues. Their film moves from playful games and Bollywood-style dancing to the groom’s-shoe tradition, a traditional Indian ceremony led by a priest who explained each ritual, and a glamorous black-tie finale. If you’re planning a multi-day Indian wedding in Greece, this is the film to watch.

“From start to finish, he was incredible—communicative, professional, and made us feel completely at ease. He captured all of the special moments so beautifully, and the final videos are perfect!”

Vicky & Lenny: a New York couple comes home to the Athens Riviera

Maria & Bryan: from New York to an Athens church and a Riviera party
Venue: a Greek Orthodox church in Athens, then Island Art and Taste on the Athens Riviera
Maria and Bryan traveled from New York back to Greece, to roots, faith and family, for a Greek Orthodox wedding in Athens. Tradition during the day, then a reception by the sea at Island Art and Taste on the Athens Riviera and a party that simply happened.
