Wedding Videography FAQ: Greece, Mykonos, Paros and Athens

Answers to the questions couples ask me most about filming a wedding in Greece. I’m Konstantinos Liopetas, a destination wedding filmmaker based in Athens and available anywhere in Greece. Your question is not here? Send me your date and I’ll reply quickly.

Getting started

How do I get started?

Send me your date, where you’re celebrating and a little about you using the contact form. I reply fast with availability and ideas, we talk at a time that suits your time zone, and then I send a custom quote shaped around your plans.

How far in advance should we book?

As soon as you have your date and venue, even if other details are still open. Popular summer dates go first, so the earlier you write, the better.

How much does a wedding videographer in Greece cost?

Every wedding is different, so every couple receives a custom quote tailored to their plans: your location, your events and the films you’d like. Get in touch with your date and a few details, and I’ll send yours.

Can we plan our Greece wedding with you from abroad?

Absolutely. Most of my couples plan their Greece wedding from home, often without visiting before the big day. We talk through your plans at a time that suits your time zone, I coordinate directly with your planner and photographer, and your film is ready to share with family around the world.

How quickly do you reply to inquiries?

I reply quickly. Send your date, location and a little about your plans, and I’ll come back to you with availability and ideas for your film.

On the wedding day

How do you work on the day?

Quietly. I don’t stage or pose anything. I stay close, follow the light and let the day unfold, so you and your guests can simply enjoy it.

We’re not comfortable in front of a camera. Will that be a problem?

Not at all. That’s very common, and I never ask you to pose or repeat anything. You just celebrate; I take care of the rest.

Is drone footage included?

Yes, drone footage is always included, flown where permitted. We’ll check your venue early so the aerial shots are planned into your day. Strong island winds can ground a drone, so we always plan a backup.

Do you film the welcome party, rehearsal dinner or a boat day too?

Yes. Tell me every event you’re planning and I’ll tailor the coverage and your custom quote to the whole celebration.

Can you film a multi-day wedding?

Yes. Evelin & Luke’s celebration on Paros lasted four days, and Manhar & Vaishali’s two-day Indian wedding in Athens covered three venues. Tell me about every event you’re planning, and I’ll put together a custom quote for the whole celebration.

Planning a wedding in Greece

What is the best time of year for a wedding in Greece?

Most weddings in Greece happen between May and October. Late May, June and September usually bring warm evenings, softer crowds and beautiful light. July and August are the busiest and hottest months, and in the Cyclades the summer meltemi wind can be strong, so we plan timing and sound around it.

Can we marry legally in Greece, or should we do a symbolic ceremony?

I’m a filmmaker, not a legal adviser, so please check the paperwork with the Greek authorities, your consulate or your planner. Many couples marry legally at home and celebrate in Greece with a symbolic ceremony, and on film it feels just as meaningful.

Do you film Greek Orthodox ceremonies and Greek traditions?

Yes. I’ve filmed a church wedding in Glyfada, a traditional ceremony with wedding crowns on Kythira, and Greek dancing and plate smashing at island weddings. Tell me which traditions matter to your families and I’ll make sure they are part of your film.

Can you film a symbolic wedding or vow renewal?

Absolutely. Symbolic ceremonies and vow renewals are perfect for couples who married legally at home and want to celebrate in Greece. Tell me about your plans, and I’ll tailor the coverage to fit.

Why choose a filmmaker based in Greece?

I’m based in Athens and available anywhere in Greece, so there’s no long-haul travel to arrange. I already know the light, the wind, the ferries and the venues, and I work with your planner and photographer directly.

Do you work with wedding planners?

Yes, all the time. I’ve filmed weddings in Greece alongside planners such as NAIDO Weddings, Rachel Behar Events, The Event Co., MBW Events, White Stories Events and Aether Events, and I coordinate timelines directly with your planner and photographer.

Destinations

Do you film weddings all over Greece?

Yes. I’m based in Athens and film weddings across the country, from Mykonos, Paros, Spetses, Kythira, Kasos, Crete, Kos, Chios, Rhodes and Kefalonia to Athens and the Athens Riviera. Tell me where you’re getting married, and I’ll let you know if your date is free. See my Greece wedding videographer page.

Do you film weddings on Mykonos?

Yes. I’ve filmed at Royal Myconian, Saint John Mykonos and Lovia Mykonos, among other places. See my Mykonos wedding videographer page.

Do you film weddings on Paros?

Yes. My portfolio includes three Paros weddings, including two at Orbis Paros in Naoussa. See my Paros wedding videographer page.

Do you film weddings in Athens and on the Athens Riviera?

Yes. I’ve filmed at Island Art and Taste, Four Seasons Astir Palace, Pyrgos Petreza and Pyrgos Melissourgou, among other places. See my Athens Riviera wedding videographer page.

Mykonos, Paros or the Athens Riviera: how do I choose?

Mykonos is energy and long nights. Paros is slower and feels like a real holiday with family, with seaside venues and boat days. The Athens Riviera puts the city and the sea in one day and is easy for guests flying in. Tell me your style and guest list and I’ll tell you honestly what each looks like on film.

Do you film Indian and multicultural weddings?

Yes. Manhar & Vaishali’s two-day Indian wedding in Athens covered three venues, and Cristina & Leben’s wedding blended Romanian and African traditions. See my Indian and multicultural wedding videographer page.

Do you film destination weddings outside Greece?

Yes. I’ve also filmed weddings in Tuscany, England and Cyprus. Tell me where you’re getting married, and I’ll let you know if your date is free. See my Europe destination wedding videographer page.

Film and photography

Do you offer a combined film and photography package?

Yes. Many couples also book wedding photographer George Liopetas, and we offer a combined film and photography package on request. Mention it when you get in touch, and we’ll include it in your custom quote.

What is the difference between a wedding film and a wedding video?

A wedding video records the events of the day in order. A wedding film tells the story: who you are, who travelled for you and how the place felt that day, edited with music and titles around the details that make your wedding yours.
